Monkeys from my first Jungle Mural sparked the attention of Donna Lynn Crouse, who tracked me down in Costa Rica asking if I’d be interested in illustrating her book.
Donna wrote a story about a little girl named Carol, who had to have her leg amputated and was having a hard time adjusting to her new situation until she met a monkey named Jocko who had a prosthetic hand!
Low and behold, Jocko showed her life not only was possible with a missing limb, but could also be quite fun.
These illustrations were sketched, drawn in permeant marker, scanned, and then brought to life with color on the computer, with about a thousand layers in photoshop! then sent to the publisher for the final printing, binding, and shipping.
